Visitor (not belonging to a group)
A user classed as a visitor (not a member of a group) can only access public groups or resources and the public tools of private groups. Visitors have restricted access and cannot, for example, play an active part in the different areas belonging to a group (for example, they may not be able to write comments in a blog, or send e-mails to the mailing list). Visitors often have permission only to read material.
Member
You have this profile when you have applied to become part of a group and the administrator has approved your membership. As a member, you will be authorised to use all its public and private resources.
As a member, you will be able to edit your profile and set privacy levels, determining which members of the group can see your details.
You will also have access to the resources and material posted by the group you have joined. It is a cooperative platform and you will use each of the tools differently.
The permission you have for each tool depends not only on your user status but on the properties assigned to a tool by the administrator when it is created (for example, the administrator can decide whether members can write new entries in a blog, or whether they are free to post files in the Repository).
Moderator
Moderators have the same functions as members but with some additional functions: they can delete or modify entries to a blog, delete messages in a Forum, moderate the Mailroom, write items in the group's news and administer the content of the Repository, etc.
Administrator
The Group's administrator decides which sections and which material and tools will be included. The administrator sets the properties of the group and the tools (names, whether they are public or private), and appoints moderators. When dealing with tools the administrator has additional privileges to those of the moderator.
Administrators are responsible for accepting users as members of the group and applications for membership are addressed to them. |
