What is it?
A blog is a regularly updated electronic diary where one or more authors can publish news and opinion pieces. Items are organised chronologically and filed according to month to make them easy to find.
 
What is it for?

It is used for periodically publishing news, articles and comments of interest on diverse themes.

You can give and exchange opinions on the subjects, news and articles that interest you, add an interesting article, include information about conferences, courses, grants and help available, etc.

When you add an article, this appears at the top. You can add to this photographs, links and attached files.

Other members of the group or the portal can comment on what you have written.

In the case of moderated blogs, only the moderators can start a new thread; the other members of the group or the portal can only read it and, optionally, add comments.

It is also possible for users to have it as their own tool, if the portal's administrators allow this. In this case the user can determine what is visible and whether other portal members can post contributions and comments.

 
How do I use it?

1- Go to the blog. If the blog belongs to a particular group, go to Groups > the group you want to access > Contents > Blog (or the name of the blog); if you want to access a general blog on the portal, you only need to select Tools in the menu on the left hand side of the portal's main page. If it is your personal blog, go to Personal zone > Own contents > Blog.

2- If the blog is not moderated and any member can add new posts, click on Add post at the top of the screen.

3- In the edit screen, complete the fields Title of the thread, Language, Contents, Summary (if you don't enter a summary yourself, the first 100 characters of the entry will be used as the default summary) and Related links.

You can attach files in the Contents field. Just click on Upload files.

4- If you want to add links to websites, go to the field Related links/Add new link: in the first text box write the link name that you want to appear on the screen and the URL or address of the website you want to link to in the second text box.

5- Once you have entered all the changes, click on Save and the item is now created.
